The Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute (HCAT) is a leader in providing credit and noncredit courses and programs to meet the needs of a dynamic and expanding hospitality industry.
The hospitality industry is Maryland’s largest private employer and continues to expand here and across the nation. Career prospects are best for those with a college education and training.
Attention both new and current students: Maryland Part-Time Grants are available for credit courses. Students must demonstrate financial need and register for at least 6, and not more than 11 credits that lead to a degree or certificate. For more information, contact AACC's Office of Student Financial Services at 410-777-2203 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Degree and Certificate Programs
Programs cover the essentials from the specific hospitality and culinary skills to the business and human-relations skills. We stress hands-on learning. Students in a degree program must complete a practicum of work experience in the industry prior to graduation.
Associate of Applied Science Degree
The degree program is designated as a state-wide program; therefore, students who live in Maryland counties where there is no public community college hotel/restaurant management degree program may apply for a waiver of the out-of-county tuition differential for courses included in the program.
HRM degrees/certificates are statewide-designated programs. However, the out-of-county tuition waiver is not automatically applied to the student's bill when the student registers for classes. Students must notify the Cashier's Office to have the waiver applied. This must be done in advance of the start of classes and will not be applied retroactively.
Statewide designated programs are subject to change. For more information on a specific program, call the Cashier's Office at 410-777-2236.
