Protecting the rights of library users to view and read materials without fear of intrusion, intimidation or reprisal is a core value for AACC. Truxal Library protects users’ privacy and confidentiality. Confidential records include but are not limited to circulation records, registration records, reference requests, reference and Internet searches, and interlibrary loan requests. Acceptable uses of AACC computers are defined in the Computer and Electronic Communication Access and Usage at Anne Arundel Community College Policy published in the College Catalog.
Library circulation records and other records identifying the names of library users are confidential and are prohibited from inspection, use, or disclosure, in accordance with Maryland law (Annotated Code of Maryland, Education Article Section 23-107). Such records shall not be made available except pursuant to a lawful court order, search warrant, or subpoena. Requests for confidential library circulation records from a federal, state, or local enforcement agency shall be referred to the Library Director.
