Financial Aid for Continuing Education Courses
If you require financial assistance for a noncredit course, there are several options available to you based on eligibility. Although it may take some time to apply for job training funds, you are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. Feel free to contact the college to ask for assistance with financial aid or the course search process.
Your options include:
This need-based scholarship will pay up to $1,000 towards the costs of approved training. The application form (PDF) explains the eligibility requirements and lists the approved courses.
If you are an adult 35 or older who has lost their primary source of income through divorce, death or other circumstances, you may be eligible for assistance through the AACC Second Act Displaced Homemaker Program. To determine your eligibility, call Jeannine DiPasquale at 410-777-1161.
If you have a disability the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) can determine your eligibility for job training with state funding. Call 410-412-7090 to make an appointment.
If you want to upgrade your skills in your current industry, and are a full-time benefited employee, your employer may eligible for training funds from the Maryland Business Works Program. Eligible employers receive funding for up to 50% of your course costs. The program applies to most occupational skills training, English as a Second Language courses, and literacy training (Developmental Reading and English Courses). Students in certain continuing education courses may be eligible to apply for private student loans. These loans are not part of the federal student loan program and they do require a credit check.

If you need to take courses on starting your own business or running your own business smarter and leaner, you may be eligible for the college’s Philip and Carole Ratcliffe Entrepreneurial Scholarship.
If you are a veteran with military benefits, you may be eligible to use your VA Benefits for A+ certification courses. For more information, go to Veterans benefits.
If you have lost your job, are a displaced or dislocated worker, or fit a number of other qualifiers, make an appointment at the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corp. to find out if you qualify for federal WIA job training funds.
