Part-Time Scholarship Money Available!

Did you know that Maryland has established a grant program to provide part-time, degree-seeking students with financial assistance?  There is money available for students who have demonstrated financial need and are enrolled in 6-11 credit hours.

If you are only taking one class because of the burden that additional classes would place on your finances, you might consider picking up an additional class to qualify for this grant.  To apply for the grant, you must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This process can be completed online by going to Apply for Grants, Loans, and Work Programs.   The process is free and a lot easier than most people think.  You will need your tax returns when you fill out the application. You could be eligible for $200 to $1,000!

To be considered for an award you must:

  • be enrolled in a degree program for at least 6 but fewer than 12 credits,
  • be a permanent resident of Maryland,
  • demonstrate financial need,
  • not be in default of a Federal Family Education Loan or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received,
  • pledge to remain drug-free and
  • maintain satisfactory academic progress.

AACC has a sizeable amount of grant money to award and is seeking students who are qualified to use the funds.  Don’t miss out on an opportunity just because you think you are not in need!  You might be surprised.  Contact the Student Financial Services Office at 410 777-2203 if you have any questions.
