Dean Kathleen Happ
Dean Kathleen Happ of the School of Business, Computing and Technical Studies (BCTS) has served the Anne Arundel community as teacher, leader, mentor and colleague for over 25 years. For more than 10 years, she has served as Dean and Assistant Dean in academic programs that support the development of professionals in information systems, business, technology and health care. Dean Happ holds the rank of Associate Professor in Computer Information Systems and served as Chair of that department prior to assuming the assistant deanship in 1994. She has taken an active role in college governance, serving in a leadership capacity on many collegewide committees and workgroups. Prior to joining the college, Dean Happ worked as software developer in government and non-profit organizations.
The professional schools of AACC strive to provide students with a comprehensive, current set of skills and knowledge grounded in high standards of acheivement and personal accountability. The BCTS faculty strives to ensure that our students ably meet their goals as related to transfer and to employment. The faculty continue to incorporate new knowledge and skills into the curricula as technology and work processes within their professions change. We are all proud that the content of faculty in BCTS encourage their students to gain the core abilities characteristic of successful lifeling learners - strong communications skills, critical thinking, innovative approaches to team work, appreciation of diversity and global perpective. Dean Happ seeks to reflect these values and skills in her leadership of the school.
