Administrative Professional

In today’s fast-paced business world, when executives are being asked to do more with less, they need capable people to help them meet their day-to-day demands. If you are well organized, thorough and pay great attention to detail, this may be the career for you. The training is ideal for professionals seeking certification as well as those entering the field.

What is the job outlook?
The average annual salary of administrative assistants in Maryland is approximately $36,000 with annual growth through 2018 of 11 percent. Opportunities will be best for applicants with knowledge of computer software applications.

What is the training?
Completion of two online noncredit courses will prepare students to take the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP®) exam administered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. The training is offered in partnership with ed2go and can be completed in less than five months. Students will learn information and records management, communications technology, travel and meeting coordination, space planning and ergonomics, fundamentals of business law, ethics, operations management and how to select and train team members. Total Hours: 48

What credentials will I earn?
Upon successful completion, students will earn an AACC continuing education certificate and be prepared to take the Certified Administrative Professionals (CAP) exam administered by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Learn more about the exam. What will it cost?
$218 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees

What are the requirements?
Students must be at least 16 years old.
