What courses will I take?
FIRST SESSION
BPA-162 - Business Communications
Focus on written reports and proposals, oral presentations including interviewing skills and persuasive proposals plus computer communications including e-mail and the Internet.
Note: Also offered as ESI-162; credit is not given for both BPA-162 and ESI-162.
CSI-120 - Personal Computer Word Processing Applications
Use Microsoft Word 2007 to create, edit, format, save and print a document. Learn intermediate and advanced features including mail merge, envelopes and labels, sorting, styles, tables, columns, footnotes, outlines, table of contents, indexes, master documents, templates, forms, Web pages, graphics, charts and macros. Use a wide variety of document types and practical examples to provide an understanding of different ways Word can be applied to personal and business needs. Covers the topics needed to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist Word Expert Certification Exam. Lab fee $20. Prerequisite: Users with no prior software applications experience are encouraged to take one of the following before taking this course: CSI-110, CSI-112 or CSI-113.
BPA-141 - Business Office Management
Learn procedures for performing administrative support functions in the contemporary business office. Topics include mail handling and shipping, records management, electronic business tools, telephone and telecommunication systems, reprographics, work station organization, organizational structure, time management and professional image. Lab fee $15.
Prerequisite: BPA-136 or permission of department chair.
SECOND SESSION
BPA-111 - Business and Its Environment
Introduces ways that business is related to, and interacts with, individuals, groups and institutions in the current U.S. environment. Provides the terminology and concepts of the functional areas of business, setting the foundation for interpreting and analyzing the legal, social and ethical issues facing business today. Integrates global awareness and cultural diversity. Eligibility for ENG-111 recommended. Lab fee $5.
Note: Also offered as ESI-111; credit is not given for both BPA-111 and ESI-111.
CSI-124 - Personal Computer Spreadsheet Applications
Use Microsoft Excel 2007 to study the basics of spreadsheet setup, data manipulation and program functions. Learn more advanced features including charts, lists (databases), macros, World Wide Web functions, integration with other applications, validation, 3-D references, data tables, scenario manager, solver, importing external data, data maps and auditing features. Use a wide variety of practical examples to foster an understanding of different ways Excel can be applied to personal and business needs. This course covers the topics needed to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel Expert Certification Exam. Lab fee $20.
Prerequisite: Users with no prior software applications experience are encouraged to take one of the following before taking this course: CSI-110, CSI-112 or CSI-113.
BPA-151 - Business Office Management 2
Integrate concepts with office simulations. Topics include payroll and taxes, meetings and conference planning, travel arrangements, business research, banking procedures, basics of office accounting, human relations approaches to problem solving, career planning and customer satisfaction. Lab fee $15.
Prerequisite: BPA-136 or permission of department chair.

Twenty-Week Hybrid Online Program
Weekday online instruction with class every other Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. and every other Saturday from 12:45-2:30 pm.
What does it cost?
Tuition for in-county residents for the entire program is approximately $1,699* (not including books). Federal financial aid is available.
