From the Gut: the Screen Prints of Michael Byzewski and Aesthetic Apparatus
This exhibit highlights a large selection of screen prints by artist/designer, Michael Byzewski. Michael is the co-founder and creative director of Aesthetic Apparatus, which is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A force in the resurgence of hand-printed gig posters, he has created impactful and iconic images for numerous bands and musicians, including: The White Stripes, The Black Keys, The Melvins, Guided By Voices, Dinosaur Jr. and Josh Ritter.
For more than 15 years Micheal Byzewski has done work for everyone from penniless local bands to international advertising firms. The impressive list of his clients is far too long to recount, but includes The Criterion Collection, The Economist, Esquire, The Washington Post, The New York Times, McSweeny’s, The New Yorker, Warner Brothers Records, Interscope Records, 4AD, Target, Nike, Old Navy, Walker Art Center and Absolut. His artwork has been featured in publications such as Rolling Stone, CMJ, and more.
