King's Dream: Then and Now
Sponsored by the office of Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuch, this special event will honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a screening of the "I Have a Dream" speech, followed by remarks from local experts and dignitaries.
The keynote speaker will be Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., special adviser to Governor Larry Hogan and former delegate and city councilman. Mitchell will discuss King's message of peace and equality and how it lives on today. Dr. Lester Brooks from Anne Arundel Community College will speak about African American history prior to King's era, and Carl Snowden will speak about the summer of 1963 in the civil right's movement.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with a welcome reception, followed by the full program from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
