Purpose: No Child Left Behind legislation requires educational paraprofessionals to be “highly qualified.” To meet this objective, this certificate has been designed to satisfy the legal requirements and to prepare teaching assistants to better fulfill their job responsibilities.

Graduation Requirements: Demonstrated eligibility for ENG 111.
Completion of required courses listed with a grade of C or better and
a passing score of 455 or better on the Educational Testing Service
ParaPro Exam (www.ets.org/parapro) or evidence of completion of
48 total credits.
Financial Aid: Because this program requires less than 16 credits,
students are not eligible to receive financial aid from the U.S.
Department of Education (PellGrants, SEOG, Federal Work-Study,
Stafford Loans or PLUS loans) or the Maryland Higher Education
