Purpose: The number of students enrolled in schools and community programs designated as English Language Learners has increased dramatically in recent years and continues to grow. The needs of these children whose primary language is not English require that the personnel assisting them have a high degree of knowledge regarding English Language Learners. This letter of recognition will provide classroom teachers, teaching assistants and community agency personnel with the skills necessary to meet the needs of this diverse group of students and ensure their academic success.

Award Requirements: Demonstrated eligibility for ENG 111.
Completion of the required courses with a grade of C or better in
each course. Students should apply to the Records and Registration
office for the Letter of Recognition after they have completed the
ENG 161 Linguistics
requirements.
