Spring Term 2010 Extended - FAQs
Why is the term being extended?
Due to inclement weather the college has been closed multiple days. Maryland law states that all college and universities must meet a certain period of time (instructional time) for each credit that is being offered for courses. Because of the amount of instructional time lost due to the closings, the college has decided to extend the spring term. This will allow the college the opportunity to recapture the instructional time that has been lost.
What is the last day of the term?
The last day for first 8-week courses is now March 21 (The original date was 14).
The last day of the term for 15 week and 13 week courses is now May 16 (The original date was May 9).
The last day for second 8-week courses is now May 23 (The original date was May 16).
Will my spring class schedule change?
Your spring class schedule will not be impacted by this change. Continue to follow the schedule that you have been following.
Will I have to pay additional tuition and fees?
No additional tuition and fees for the spring term will be required.
Do I need to apply for additional financial aid to cover the newly added week?
You do not need to apply for any additional financial aid for the spring term. You will need to apply for summer and fall aid.
Will the dates of spring break change?
The dates for spring break (March 22-26) will not change.
Will the date of commencement change?
The date for commencement (May 27) will not change. Additionally, if you would like to apply for graduation, your application must be submitted by March 8. The graduation application can be found here.PDF
What are the final exam dates?
The final exam dates will now be May 17-23. The day of the week and time that your exams were originally scheduled will not change. For instance if you were scheduled to take your exam on Monday (May 10) at 2:45 p.m., you will now take your exam on Monday (May 17) at 2:45 p.m. The final exam schedule can be found here.
What if I planned to be out of town during the revised last week of the term?
If you planned to be out of town May 17- 23, you are strongly encouraged to change your travel plans in order to complete needed coursework and exams If there are extenuating circumstances that will not allow you to change your travel plans, please speak directly with your instructors. Accommodations may or may not be able to be made.
When will I receive my spring grades?
Spring grades will be available on MyAACC as soon as they are posted by your instructors. All spring grades should be available by May 25th.
What should I do about any class assignments I missed during the college closures?
All instructors will be working to adjust their class schedules. Specific changes will be discussed with you during your class meetings.
Will the first day of the summer term change?
The first day of the summer term (May 24) will not change.
