TRANSPORTATION, LOGISTICS AND CARGO GRANT

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) has been awarded a $2 million dollar Community-Based Job Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. AACC will partner with local workforce investment boards, local and national cargo handling employers, local Job Corps centers, trade associations, state and local school systems, the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) and the Port of Baltimore in a unique program designed to:

  • Develop a credit certificate program;
  • Upgrade the knowledge and skills of the current workforce;
  • Reach out to targeted populations and develop a pipeline of new employees;
  • Build the capacity of America’s community colleges.

Under this project, a minimum of 248 individuals will be recruited, screened, assessed and trained. An additional 300 current workers will be trained using grant resources.
