CAREER NAVIGATOR
HCAT Institute

The Hotel, Culinary Arts, and Tourism Institute (HCAT) Career Navigator is a member of the program team dedicated to promoting world class hospitality education at Anne Arundel Community College. The Career Navigator will be responsible for guiding lower skilled individuals (low adult basic skills or English speaking skills) through training, career preparation, and level employment opportunities in high-demand industries.  This is a grant funded position through Walmart Brighter Futures 2.0 Project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide case management, recruitment, job development, placement, and retention activities.  Work closely with AACC staff to coordinate Walmart Brighter Futures 2.0 Project efforts between job seekers, training providers, and employers.

In coordination with AACC staff, the Career Navigator will assess candidates based on interests, aptitudes, skill levels, and capabilities.  Work with partners to ensure wrap-around services are provided for trainees, and maintain a relationship with trainees throughout the training period and beyond job placement to offer resources and support training completion and job retention. 

Prepare relevant course materials.

Utilize established business partnership, as well as contact employers to promote agency services as related to the Walmart Brighter Futures 2.0 Project and maintain good working relationships with employers. 

Enroll and maintain required project data.  Assist in rigorous evaluation requirements as necessary.

Perform other duties as designated to maintain flexibility in meeting potential project changes.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a social science, human service, business, or related field and two years of workforce development experience. A combination of comparable work experience and/or education can be substituted.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff, governmental agencies, representatives of community and professional organizations and the public.

Direct experience working with the community college system preferred.

Ability to work successfully with diverse groups and partner agencies.

Strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred).

Experience with automated case management systems.

Familiarity with the job search process including experience using current job search tools and resources.

Ability to work with minimal supervision with attention to details and deadlines.

Have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to off-site project meetings and conduct work related activities.

Hours:  40 hours per week  
            This position is overtime exempt.
