Job Openings - Faculty, Part-time
ESL Basic Skills Class Description: Classes are designed for students who are at the literacy or beginning levels. Classroom environment is multi-level; students are pre-tested and instruction is based on their needs, levels and the Core ESL Content Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education.
Requires:
- Bachelors degree in any field, Education/TESL preferred
- 1-year experience ESL teaching or tutoring preferred
NOTE: Those without an Education/TESL degree and ESL experience are advised to take (ESL 380) Introduction to Teaching ESL, or complete the Introduction to Teaching Continuing Education Certificate Program offered at AACC.
- Experience working with adult students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to teach multiple levels within the same classroom
- Strong organizational skills for managing and completing administrative paperwork
Availability: summer, fall and spring terms, days, evenings, and weekends; various locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Class Description: These courses are designed to successfully transition ESL students into college credit courses. The EAP program consists of beginning, intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced and capstone courses in reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking.
Requires:
- Master’s degree in TESOL or related field
- Minimum of one year experience teaching ESL/EFL to adults in higher education
- Experience using technology to teach ESL
Availability: summer, fall and spring terms, days, evenings, and weekends; various locations throughout Anne Arundel County.
