A Little More

In 2013, Dave Bucklin left a 15-year career in business-to-business sales when he was laid off after his company was acquired by a larger one. He began volunteering as a tutor at Baltimore’s Esperanza Center, which provides a variety of services to immigrants. He immediately fell in love with helping people learn English and it led him to a new career. He earned a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and now he teaches at AAAC.

Bucklin teaches students who range from beginner to advanced, both online and in-person. His interest in positive self-talk and affirmations make him a kind, patient and encouraging teacher.

As someone who only speaks one language, Bucklin says he is humbled by his multilingual students. He enjoys watching his students grow stronger in their English language skills and he is constantly learning from his students.
