Marjorie Rawhouser's higher education career began not far from AACC. She earned a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and went on to earn her master's and doctoral degrees in bioengineering from Penn State. Her active duty and reserve career in the Navy included shipboard duty, engineering administration and training, emergency management, and work as a United Nations liaison in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In her career as a bio-medical engineer, she worked in medical device product development for the Penn State College of Medicine and ABIOMED Inc., and as a medical device Quality Assurance consultant.
Rawhouser started at AACC in 2010 as an engineering faculty member. She worked as a coordinator for a program with Frostburg State, helped organize the first Lego League robotic tournament and was a mentor for the Engineering Scholarship students. Currently as assistant dean for Transfer Studies and Achieving College and Career Advancement, she works with faculty members to help students make a smooth transition to college, access necessary resources and transfer successfully.
She teaches Student Success Seminar (ACA-100), Success in the Online Classroom (ACA-110), Achieving Career Success (ACA-120) and Professional Skills for STM (STM-213). She is happy to meet with students to talk about the AACC's Transfer Studies degree.
