Why is
Moral Courage by Rushworth M. Kidder in the core collection of books about the future? The author, founder of the Institute for Global Ethics, put it very simply: “We will not survive the 21st century with the ethics of the 20th century.” Kidder challenges the reader to recognize three main elements of moral courage as well as to practice moral courage and model the behavior for others. In addition to using contemporary examples of damaged organizational cultures,
Moral Courage offers parallel views of the individuals in crises of character. Kidder’s book doesn’t teach
what to think; it teaches
how to think and how to recognize that which masquerades as moral courage.
