Welcome to Futureportal, an ezine of the Institute for the Future at Anne Arundel Community College (IF @ AACC), April 2010, volume 6, issue 4...We study the future to help build a better tomorrow.

Inside this issue...

  • futures thinking... looking ahead
  • applied foresight... using the perspective
  • on the horizon... learning opportunities & events - local, regional and global
  • futures thinking... looking ahead

The International Space Station Web site shows mission information, launch schedules, and a number of interactive features. For instance, from where the space station is right now, you can get a view of the earth below.

  • applied foresight... using the perspective

Near Earth Objects Tracking includes asteroids and certain comets. These objects, including potentially hazardous ones, are tracked by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). More data means that if there is a threat at some time, then there might be an opportunity to take action to avoid a catastrophic collision.

Sustainable development and smart growth is the mission of New Jersey Future, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1987. It supports research, policy analysis, and public education. A line from the website succinctly states the case: “In its simplest form, sustainable progress means making sure that our actions today will provide us with the kind of life we want to live in the future.”

  • on the horizon... learning opportunities & events - local, regional and global
