On the horizon- upcoming events (near AACC, Maryland)

New Director at IF @ AACC. Professor Lawrie Gardner will lead the Institute for the Future @ AACC effective June 16, 2006. A solid member of the IF Advisory team and steadfast contributor to IF's development, Lawrie will lead IF's growth. Current director, Steve Steele, will use a sabbatical leave to make presentations on the IF model.  If you're interested in a presentation by Steve, contact him!

Local and global registration possible. Registration for FTR 100  Exploring the Future, a 3-credit general education, interdisciplinary college course begins April 27, 2006 for the Fall 2006 term. Available online and on campus, this course is open to a local and global audience. See overview.

Continued Bird Flu View... We're still watching. Follow the updates from  the Center for Disease Control (USA) and the World Health Organization say about bird flu?  Thinking locally, acting locally, hence, globally: Pandemics, flu and avian (bird) flu... clearly global and local concerns. See some of the steps each of us can take to impact the future and to prevent flu as provided by one local health department. 

LEARNING TOMORROW: The online newsletter of the newly established education section of the World Future Society is now available on the Society's Web site. The newsletter will offer news briefs, trend bites, and networking links for educators interested in advancing their futuring skills.
