Places of outstanding value to humanity are designated as World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Among these sites are the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and the Pyramids of Egypt. The World Heritage program seeks to protect these sites and to encourage international cooperation for their preservation.

Scientists at Bristol University in the United Kingdom have successfully designed a tissue-engineered trachea using the patient's own stem cells. This use of the patient's own cells to design the trachea is at the cutting edge of stem cell research.
The Rocky Mountain Institute is a non-profit organization that fosters the efficient and restorative use of resources so that companies, governments and organizations are more efficient. Recently RMI announced its initiatives to decrease dependence on oil at the Automotive News Green Car Conference in Detroit.

This is a 3-credit hour General Education course, which also satisfies the diversity requirement. Spring term registration is now open for both online and traditional face-to-face classes.
Also, you can register for our noncredit futures modules for professional development. These online modules may be taken alone or in combination. These modules are great for employers or educators looking for some background information in order to introduce their employees or students to futuring. Registration is now open for the 2009 WorldFuture Conference "Innovation & Creativity in a Complex World". The conference will be in Chicago, Illinois from July 17-19.
