Job Corps Advanced Culinary Arts Program
Subjects Covered
Program Description
Since these courses are taught in the same manner as those offered to the students enrolled in Anne Arundel Community College, Job Corps students are eligible to earn college credit in this program. In order to earn college credit, students must pass assessments for each course they wish to challenge. This means that students are required to study and do additional course work outside the classroom. In addition, students are required to dress in proper uniform on a daily basis, comply with college sanitation standards and behave in a manner that brings credit to themselves and the Job Corps program.
In order to enter the hospitality industry at an advanced level, students will undergo rigorous training in the classroom as well as in the kitchen laboratory. As part of the training process, students will also participate in one internship and one externship as part of their curriculum.
Employment Opportunities
The potential for students that graduate from the program are outstanding! Recent graduates have been placed in business dining restaurants, fine dining restaurants, major hotels, healthcare facilities and more. Several students have even gone on to get their Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from the college.
