Continuing Legal Education for Mediators

The Legal Studies Institute is dedicated to enhancing the practice and public understanding of mediation and conflict resolution. We offer courses to enhance your professional skills and practice. Mediation is both an art and a science and good mediators are highly trained, experienced and skilled. 

Courses for Mediators

 LEG 377 - Mediator Ethics: Quality of Process: Explore the ethical challenges involved in the mediation process with a focus on the canon of “Quality of the Process”.   The ethics can be distilled into four categories: 1) Pre-Process Considerations, 2) Mediator Mindfulness/Self-Awareness, 3) Conducting the Mediation and 4) Other professional roles potentially used by the mediator.  CEUs awarded.  $50.00 ($60.00 if an out-of-county resident)

* This course satisfies Title 17 continuing education requirements and MPME mandate for continuing education in ethics training.

LEG 513 - Breaking the Code: Ethical Decision-Making for Mediators with POISE-Mediation practice is filled with ethical puzzles and pitfalls.  Join your colleagues in this interactive workshop and learn to use a strategic tool called POISE to crack the puzzle of ethical decision-making in mediation.  Learn how to identify an ethical dilemma and use of the tool focusing on the MPME Standards of Conduct for Mediators.  Participants will receive their own special POISE tool take-a-way!

 * This course satisfies Title 17 continuing education requirements and MPME mandate for continuing education in ethics training.
