Continuing Legal Education for Mediators

The Legal Studies Institute is dedicated to enhancing the practice and public understanding of mediation and conflict resolution. We offer courses to enhance your professional skills and practice. Mediation is both an art and a science and good mediators are highly trained, experienced and skilled. 

Courses for Mediators

 LEG 368 - Mediator Ethics: Competency:  Focus on the principle of competence in mediation. Review MPME Maryland Standards of Conduct for Mediators and Maryland Rules, Title 17.  Explore the requirements and challenging issues related to competence in the practice of mediation.  CEUs awarded. $50.00 ($60.00 if an out-of-county resident)

* This course satisfies Title 17 continuing education requirements and MPME mandate for continuing education in ethics training.

LEG 505 - 40 Hr. Mediation and Conflict Resolution Training: Review conflict resolution and the skills required to be a Maryland mediator. Practice interviewing, negotiation techniques, communication and problem solving skills. Study mediation theory, conduct, ethics, rules and statutes governing mediation in the Circuit Courts of Maryland.   $850.00 ($860.00 if an out-of-county resident) 

Satisfies Maryland Rules, Title 17 requirement of 40-hour mediation training for designation as a Mediator by the Maryland Circuit Courts.
