Medical Coding Certificate
Obtaining a medical coding certificate (25 credit hours) will provide students with eligibility status to sit for the Certified Coding Associate Examination (CCA) offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the Certified Professional Coder Examination (CPC) offered by the Academy of Professional Coders.

*Certificate seeking students must consult academic adviser or program coordinator for specified math eligibility requirements.
** Practicum (MDA 276) internship requires 90 hours of unpaid work experience in a physician's office or wherever medical coding skills are required. Eligibility: Completion of all courses required for the MDA certificate with a minimum of 2.0 GPA; meeting the technical standards of the Medical Assisting department.
