AACC is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges, a consortium of more than 1,800 higher education institutions and associations working to provide higher education opportunities to servicemembers and their families.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, the program helps servicemembers and their families complete college degrees, certificates and credentials despite military relocations. Its co-sponsors include the American Association of Community College and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

SOC Benefits

• Limits the amount of coursework students must take at a single college to no more than 25 percent of degree requirements 
• College credit transfer practices reduce loss of credit and coursework duplication 
• Awards credit for military experience
