Hear the Experts and See the Stars

From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, planetary scientists and astronomers from NASA/Goddard, area colleges and universities and local astronomy clubs will be on the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail “planet stations” near Glen Burnie/Severna Park to provide information and activities.  The 4.7 mile course, that participants can walk or bike, has two sculptures and 10 planet stations representing the sun and the planets of the solar system.

At 7 and 8:15 p.m. that night at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), Dr. Carrie Anderson, a research scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center will talk about the Cassini Mission (currently in the news for diving between Saturn and its rings), and what it has gleaned about planet and its atmosphere. At 8:30 p.m., the AACC Astronomy Club will host a stargazing party at the College Observatory.

Attendance and parking are free for all events, which are sponsored by Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails, the Anne Arundel Community College Astronomy Club, the Planetary Science Division of the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center and the Universities Space Research Association.
