AACC Fall Teams Earn National, Regional Honors

Several  members of Anne Arundel Community College’s men and women’s soccer teams and a member of the college women’s volleyball team received national and regional honors in National Junior College Athletic Association competition.

Ryan Kemp of Pasadena, a sophomore out of Northeast High School, was named second team NJCAA Division III All-American, first team All Region XX Divison III and to the Region XX All-Tournament Team for his play as a midfielder on AACC’s men’s soccer team. The team had an 11-8 record last season.

Men’s soccer honors also went to Jacob Bennett of Pasadena, a sophomore out of Northeast High School and a midfielder who was named first team All Region XX Division III and to the Region XX All-Tournament Team. Defender Mike Laroque of Arnold, a freshman and graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School, was named 2nd team All Region XX Division III and to the Region XX All-Tournament Team. Midfielder James Rosenfelder of Laurel, a Palotti High School graduate, was named first team All Region XX Division III and selected for the Region XX All-Tournament Team.

Defender Jonathan Coleman of Glen Burnie, a sophomore and graduate of North County High School, was named first team All Region XX Division III. Nathan Uncapher of Pasadena, a freshman goalie from Northeast High School, was named second team All Region XX Division III. Sophomore B.J. Fuller of Bowie, a midfielder from Archbishop Spalding High School, made the Region XX All-Tournament Team.

In women’s soccer, Jenn Gappert of Arnold, a sophomore midfielder from Broadneck High School, was named NJCAA Division I honorable mention All-American. Shara Gruelich of Davidsonville, a sophomore forward out of South River High School, was named first team north All Region XX Division I. The team ended the season ranked 10th nationally and had a 14-3-1 record.

Four other women’s soccer team members, all sophomores, made the Region XX All-Tournament Team: Krystle Behrns of Annapolis, a midfielder from Eleanor Roosevelt High School; Megan Grant of Hanover, a midfielder out of Meade High School; Jenny Hines of Glen Burnie, a defender from Old Mill High School; and Julie Kloster of Millersville, a goalie from Old Mill High School.

Elizabeth Rodenhizer of Pasadena, a sophomore volleyball middle hitter from Chesapeake High School, was named to the first team All Region XX Division III. The team had a 4-12 record last season.
