Earn College Credit Close to Home in Brooklyn Park

Start your college education this fall right in your own neighborhood by taking Anne Arundel Community College evening credit classes at Brooklyn Park Middle School.

Most classes begin Aug. 29, and registration is under way.

Choose from 16 courses, including such general education requirements as "Composition and Introduction to Literature 1" (ENG 111), "History of the United States 1" (HIS 211) and "Introduction to Psychology" (PSY 111). Upgrade your work skills with "Fundamentals of Oral Communication" (COM 111), "Principles of Accounting 1" (BPA 211) or "Introduction to Criminal Justice" (CJS 111).

There are five courses for teachers. "Methods of Teaching Reading in the Secondary Content Area: Part 1" (EDU 262) is a full-term, three-credit course starting Thursday, Sept. 1. Four other classes for teachers are three-week or five-week one-credit courses with staggered starting times. "Preparing for Praxis 1: Math Skills" (EDU 003) meets Oct. 11-25; "Instructional Strategies" (EDU 248) meets Sept. 7-Oct. 5; "Functional Assessment Behavior" (EDU 250) meets Oct. 12-Nov. 9 and "Introduction to Communication Disorders" (EDU 254) meets Nov. 16-Dec. 21.
