New Computer Training Courses for Working Women

Jan. 6, 2006

Computer Training

Career women working toward job advancement and women looking to re-enter the workforce can benefit this spring from Anne Arundel Community College’s five-course series, "Computer Training for Re-entry Women."

Classes begin Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Culminating in a Letter of Recognition, "Computer Training for Re-Entry Women" is a series of four core courses and one online elective that prepares women for the challenges of a professional career by providing them with skills for workplace success.

The course series begins with a half-day session, "Starting Over" (CTT 334), which helps you evaluate which computer skills you need to reach your goals. Sign up for either the Jan. 30 section at AACC at Arundel Mills Room 405 or the March 4 section at the Glen Burnie Town Center Room 414.

"Computer Training for Re-entry Women" (CTT 335) meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for two days and allows you a chance to refresh and enhance basic workplace skills. Choose from the Feb. 1 and 3 classes at AACC at Arundel Mills Room 405 or the section meeting March 11 and 18 at GBTC Room 414.

The series continues with the one-session "Keeping Track of Files and Folders" (CTT 336) and the two-session "Microsoft Excel for Re-entry Women" (CTT 337), both courses teaching women how to successfully navigate and complete various electronic files, projects, databases and templates for home and office. For "Keeping Track of Files and Folders," choose from the section that meets 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 6 at AACC at Arundel Mills Room 405 and the section meeting 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 1 at GBTC Room 414. "Microsoft Excel for Re-entry Women" also is offered twice, so choose either the section that meets 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 8 and 10 at AACC at Arundel Mills Room 405 or the one meeting 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 8 and 15 at GBTC Room 414.

To complete the Letter of Recognition, select one of two online electives, "Resume Writing Workshop" (ONL 323) or "12 Steps to a Successful Job Search" (ONL 334). Both courses offer three sections, Feb. 15-April 7, March 15-May 5 or April 19-June 9.

The entire series "Computer Training for Re-entry Women" is part of AACC’s Computer and Technology Training curriculum, aiming to enhance students’ skills in multiple aspects of computer and information technologies. For information, call 410-777-2325.
