TEACH Institute Awarded $4,775 Grant

March 10, 2006

Award

The Teacher Education and Child Care Institute (TEACH) at Anne Arundel Community College was awarded two grants totaling $4,775 to enhance a unique training program.

Both grants go to Behavioral, Emotional Support and Training (BEST) at the TEACH Institute to purchase books and create a lending library for parents and child care providers dealing with children with behavioral, social and emotional problems. BEST offers free consultation, assessment and assistance for parents and child care providers of children exhibiting difficult behavior. For more information, call 410-777-2915.

Both grants were awarded in February by the Anne Arundel County Local Management Board for Children, Youth and Families, in the office of the County Executive. Established in 1993 under the Governor’s Office for Children, the board is a community-based outfit working throughout Anne Arundel County.

The AACC TEACH Institute provides credit and noncredit courses preparing students for careers as teachers or certified child care providers. For information, call 410-777-1962.
