AACC Brings Recycled Percussion to Campus

July 29, 2005

Entertainment

Recycled Percussion, voted by college students nationwide as the best major performing group in 2003 and 2004, will take the stage Thursday, Sept. 22, at Anne Arundel Community College.

The band, which features drummers using both traditional and alternative instruments, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

The group began in 1995 when drummer Justin Spencer decided percussionists needed recognition and organized fellow drummers as an entry in a high school talent show. He now is the group’s tour manager.

During the performance, three drummers use plastic buckets, metal tanks, chainsaws, jackhammers and other alternative objects in combination with traditional drums and percussion instruments. Also on stage is a deejay who mixes hard-driving hip-hop and rock with dance music.

Open-seating tickets go on sale Sept. 6 at AACC’s theater box office, 410-777-2457. Tickets are $15 general admission; $12 for senior citizens, students and AACC employees; and $10 for AACC students. Let the box office personnel know if someone in your group needs special accommodations.
