State Grant Available for Part-Time AACC Students

July 14, 2006

Education

State grants are available to part-time Anne Arundel Community College students to make their higher education more affordable.

The Maryland Part-Time Student Grant is awarded by AACC based solely on a student’s financial need. The award, available to both first- and second-year students, is meant to complement other forms of financial aid from state and federal sources. All majors are eligible to apply.

To be considered, students must:

- Complete the 2006-2007 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at http://www.fafsa.edu.gov/

- Apply and gain admission to AACC.

AACC financial aid officials will notify students if any grant money has been awarded to them. Depending on a student’s demonstrated financial need, awards vary between $200 and $1,000 annually.

AACC students are considered part-time if they are enrolled in between six and 11 credits each term. Only Maryland residents are considered. To renew an award, students must maintain satisfactory academic standing at AACC and submit the FAFSA annually.

Information on the Maryland Part-time Student Grant is available at www.mhec.state.md.us/financialAid/ProgramDescriptions/prog_ptgrant.asp or at the AACC Office of Student Financial Services on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway, 410-777-2203, www.aacc.edu/aid/ptscholarships.cfm or e-mail, finaid@aacc.edu.

Financial aid officials are available at the Arnold campus; at AACC at the Glen Burnie Town Center, Arundel Center North second floor, 410-777-2945; and at AACC at Arundel Mills, 7009 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover, 410-777-2010.

Registration for fall classes is under way. The first fall sessions begin Aug. 28.
