Ralph F. Petragnani has been named as the business development manager by the Center for Workforce Solutions at Anne Arundel Community College. Petragnani will focus on bringing Spanish language training to businesses, government and nonprofit organizations in the Washington, D.C. region.
The Center for Workforce Solutions is the exclusive provider of Command Spanish® in Washington, D.C. The center already has been successful with Command Spanish® training in the hospitality, health care and construction industries in Maryland, and Petragnani is looking forward to providing the same services to businesses and organizations in Washington, D.C.
Command Spanish® offers customized Spanish language and cross-cultural training for non-Spanish-speaking individuals who interact every day with Spanish speakers in the workplace. The curriculum provides learner-friendly language materials and workshops that require no prior knowledge of Spanish.
No attempt is made to teach the whole language. Instructors teach English-speaking employees to communicate with Spanish-speaking co-workers, clients and customers in key phrases and words that are relevant to their specific occupation, such as in hotels and restaurants, in health care clinics, physicians’ offices and hospitals or on construction sites. For instance, nurses are taught how to assist and treat patients in Spanish and police officers learn how to help Hispanic victims.
Petragnani brings an extensive professional background in sales and marketing to the position of business development manager. In his most recent job as director of sales and marketing for All Weather Inc. in Hunt Valley, Md., one of his responsibilities was developing international sales. Among his accomplishments were securing an $8.5 million contract with the Kuwait government and selling 40 airport weather systems to the Brazilian government.
He has built successful partnerships with a diverse range of Fortune 500 companies, U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. military, and foreign governments and is adept at targeting services to meet the needs of specific businesses.
Petragnani, an Annapolis resident, has both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
For information, or to arrange training, contact Petragnani at RFPetragnani@aacc.edu or call 410-777-2732.
