Event
Anne Arundel Community College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony and barn-raising festival, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26.
AACC President Martha A. Smith, Ph.D., hosts the groundbreaking for the college’s new Administrative Services Building at 11 a.m. on the construction site adjacent to Ring Road and College Parkway on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.
From noon-2 p.m., the free barn-raising festival includes a country-themed outdoor carnival with music, pony rides, face painting, a clown balloon artist and a petting zoo. Guests can even document their own "AACC Barn" history on a 6-foot canvas provided by the college’s Visual Arts department. Funny anecdotes, poetry, stories or painted pictures all are welcome. Food and refreshments are available from noon-2 p.m. with proceeds supporting the AACC Athletic department. The barn-raising celebrates the relocation of the original barn which was part of a family farm sold to county officials more than 40 years ago.
