AACC Offers Thursday Evening Workshops For Adults

Sept. 6, 2006

Education

Get tools for success at a series of free educational and career-building workshops for adult learners Thursday evenings this fall at Anne Arundel Community College.

One-hour workshops are available at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 16 in Student Services Center Room 224 on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Designed for adults considering a career change or returning to college, workshop topics range from career exploration and time management to job interview skills. No preregistration is required for the workshops.

Child care is available for ages 2-10 for parents attending the workshops. The cost is $5 per hour. Children may bring a bag dinner or free snacks are provided. Parents must register children in advance; call the Child Development Center at 410-777-2450 for a registration packet.

Still available in September is a Sept. 14 session on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator test. Learn how your personality can affect your career choice in this session, which runs through 8 p.m.

Other fall workshops are "Job Search Strategies" on Oct. 5 and "Resume Basics" on Oct. 12, just in time to prepare for the noon-4 p.m. Oct. 19 county job fair on campus. Or, try "Interview Like a Professional" on Oct. 19 and "Time Management" on Nov. 2.

In "Comprehensive Testing Success" on Nov. 9, learn to create review tools and master the tricks of the trade involving multiple choice, true/false, open book, short answer and essay questions. Wrap up the workshop series with "Test Anxiety" on Nov. 16. Learn about signs and symptoms of anxiety and how to reduce it.

For information, call 410-777-AACC.
