Program Can Boost Your Career In the Medical Office

June 22, 2007

Education

Are you interested in obtaining an administrative role in a medical office? Anne Arundel Community College is offering an accelerated package of classes to help you reach that goal.

After completion of the Administrative Medical Assistant program, students will receive a letter of recognition.

The short, three-course sequence will allow students to demonstrate ability in:

· Filing medical insurance claims and writing accurate appeals for complicated cases,

· Completing monthly, quarterly and year-end financial office reports accurately,

· Applying the principles of basic medical law to the daily operations of the medical office, and

· Applying office management principles to the daily operation of the office.

This is an excellent next step for phlebotomy technicians, clerical and medical administrative staff to develop management and supervisory skills.

The program consists of "Introduction to Allied Health and Medical Ethics," (MDA 111), "Fundamentals of Medical Assisting" (MDA 115) and "Medical Insurance and Coding" (MDA 117). Program requirements include eligibility for basic English and "Medical Terminology" (MDA 113).

Classes will be held Wednesday evenings and Saturdays over two eight-week sessions beginning Aug. 27.

For information on the upcoming session, contact Pamela Polgreen at 410-777-2925 or by e-mail at ppolgreen@aacc.edu.
