Discover ways to make your nonprofit organization more effective or connect with a group that could use your volunteer services at the 5th annual Anne Arundel Community College Nonprofit Resource Day on Friday, Sept. 28.
Attend free workshops and visit or be part of an exhibit hall for business vendors and nonprofit organizations from 9 a.m. to noon in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. The event wraps up in the afternoon with a new grant-writing workshop, also free, presented by the
Governor's Grants Office.
Start your morning with networking at a free continental breakfast followed by the workshop "Key Ingredients for Creating a Successful Nonprofit" presented by Christa Grim. She is founder of Isabel's Gift, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families with sick children in the Anne Arundel Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The keynote address by Richard J. Morgan, president and CEO of CommerceFirst Bank, is on "The Impact of Nonprofits on Our Economy and Community."
Closing out the morning program is a panel presentation on "Tools and Tips for Managing through Tough Times." Panelists are Fay Mauro, executive director of the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County, Pat Troy of Bay Media and Terry Berg of Terry Berg Solutions. The panelists will discuss how to manage a nonprofit organization when funding is limited and programs and resources need to be stretched.
Business vendors and representatives of nonprofit organizations interested in exhibiting or attending can register by calling the AACC Office of Lifelong Learning at 410-777-2121.
