Want to get paid to travel and have an office with an ever-changing view? Commercial driver's license training at Anne Arundel Community College this fall can help residents change careers and get behind the wheel.
The college is now offering CDL training in as little as 16 days. CDL Class A training is for those wishing to drive tractor trailers and CDL Class B is training for those seeking jobs driving a passenger bus, limo, dump truck or motor coach. Weekday and weekend classes begin in late August, with classes beginning monthly through December.
According to the Commercial Vehicle Training Association, the average starting salary for a CDL Class A graduate is $38,000.
Both courses qualify for AACC's continuing education scholarship for short-term job training. This need-based scholarship pays for up to $1,000 toward the cost of approved training (www.aacc.edu/aid/coned.cfm).
To set up your mandatory orientation session or for information, call Mary Colling, CDL program director at AACC, at 410-777-2935, mecolling@aacc.edu or go online to www.aacc.edu/cdl.
