April showers bring May flowers to paint or draw but why wait? Artists of all skill levels are welcome at Anne Arundel Community College, where they can find new focal points for their creativity during the often chilly, wet weeks of spring.
Evening and weekend noncredit classes abound for artists ages 16 and up who are itching to pick up their paint brush, pen, pencil, wire or beads. Some classes take place at the Arnold campus, at county high schools or technical schools or, in the case of “Landscape Painting In and Around Annapolis” (ARS-338), more historic settings.
Those who enjoy creating jewelry can choose from three one-day Saturday workshops. “Fusion Glass Jewelry” (CFT-342), is offered April 12 or May 10; “Beading Workshop” (CRF-393) on April 5 or May 3 and “Precious Metal Clay” (CFT-305) is available May 17.
Painters can try out their brushes in the new class “Acrylic Painting: Level 1” (ARS-391) or sample classes in watercolor and oil painting techniques, Chinese brush painting, landscape painting or an intensive weekend studio experience for oil and acrylic painters. Those favoring pen, ink and pencil imagery can select from a variety of choices, including “Two-Dimensional Design for Artists,” “Designing and Illustrating Children’s Books” (ARS-357) and “Drawing 2: Portraiture” (ARS-377). These classes meet for multiple sessions.
Registration is under way; course costs range from 49 to $185. For information call 410-777-2325, check the schedule of spring noncredit classes or visit Arts and Crafts Home.
