Set Your Sights on Broadway in 2009
Feb. 3, 2009
Get a behind-the-scenes look at Broadway and the New York City theater world by joining Anne Arundel Community College students on a five-day, four-night excursion to the Big Apple May 13-17.
The AACC Theater Arts program is sponsoring “A Theatre Tour of New York City” complete with round-trip transportation, a city orientation on arrival, hotel accommodations (four to a room) at the Edison Hotel one block from Times Square, tickets to two Broadway shows and an off-Broadway play or musical, a backstage or studio tour and two seminars with Broadway professionals.
Participants will see the new Broadway musical “Billy Elliott” from orchestra seats and best-available seats to a Broadway play.
Also, sit in on two seminars with Broadway performers as they discuss their acting techniques, tricks of the trade, life in New York and their careers. Past seminar leaders included cast members from such Broadway hits as “Wicked,” “Frost/Nixon,” “The Lion King” and “Hairspray.”
Trip reservations are accepted on a first-come basis. The package cost of $1,005 is for four persons to a hotel room and does not include meals, course tuition and fees. Single, double and triple room accommodations are available for an additional fee.
Free time allows participants to shop, explore the city or attend other shows.
All participants must register for the spring or summer credit course, “Professional Theater in Performance” (THA 282), in its noncredit equivalent (THA 301) or in a one-credit spring or summer session Theater Arts class. For information on the tour, registration and the payment schedule call trip leader Barbara Marder, AACC distinguished senior lecturer and associate professor of performing arts, at 410-518-9978 or e-mail bhmarder@aacc.edu.
