Mark your calendar for Friday, March 5, to enjoy an entertaining evening as America’s longest running touring company, National Players, performs “Lord of the Flies” at Anne Arundel Community College.
The 7:30 p.m. high-voltage show in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts reflects Nigel Williams’ stage adaptation of William Golding’s 1954 book. This coming-of-age tale follows a group of school-age children growing up during a war. National Players has cast women in four of the boy roles, including the protagonist Ralph, and the gender switch acknowledges the fact that there are strong women today holding their own as leaders and in political positions.
Ticket sales are under way. Cost is $10 for general admission; $7 for senior citizens, groups, students other than AACC students and AACC employees; and $5 for AACC students. Call the box office at 410-777-2457 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for operating hours and information.
National Players is a program of Olney Theatre Center, which is funded by an operating grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. The council, in turn, receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
