Tickets are now on sale for the 30th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast at Anne Arundel Community College on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011.
Join community leaders at the popular event, which will feature a keynote speaker and awards to local residents and civic leaders who best emulate the spirit of Dr. King. Providing the keynote address this year is Julieanna L. Richardson, founder and executive director of “The HistoryMakers.” Richardson has a diverse background in theater, law, television production and the cable television industries.
“A highlight of this year's celebration will be a retrospective video showing excerpts of speeches by some of the keynote speakers who have addressed the breakfast, including the late Yolanda King, daughter of Dr. King; James Farmer, founder of the Congress of Racial Equality; The Rev. Wyatt Tee Walker, Southern Christian Leadership Conference; U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski; and former Congressman Ronald V. Dellums," said event chairman Carl O. Snowden. "It is appropriate that after three decades, the organizers of the breakfast pause to pay homage to some of the history makers who have addressed us over the years."
Doors for the event open at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast served at 8 a.m. in the David S. Jenkins Gymnasium on the AACC Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.
Tickets are $35 each or $350 for a table for 10. They are limited and sold on a first-come basis. RSVP by Jan. 10, 2011. For tickets or information, call Dianne Williams at 410-222-5354 or Darlene Robinson at 433-481-1961.
