Anne Arundel Community College has hired a former volleyball setter for the Pioneers, Stephanie Carey of Arnold, as the new women’s volleyball coach.
Carey was a volleyball standout at AACC, playing the position of setter during her sophomore year. After AACC, Carey played on Salisbury University’s Division 3 championship volleyball team, where she earned honors as both Volleyball Rookie of the Year and Academic All-America. She graduated from Salisbury in 2010 with a degree in communications and public relations.
Outside of school, she is the head coach and assistant director, recruiting specialist and promotions and marketing assistant for the Velocity Volleyball Club team.
The AACC team plays a competitive schedule against regional community colleges at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 3 level and is a member of the Maryland Junior College Conference. The college supports a comprehensive program of intercollegiate athletic competition for men and women, including baseball, basketball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball.
