“Love Letters,” a Pulitzer Prize nominated play cast with Anne Arundel Community College administrators, opens Friday night with an actor change. Performing opposite AACC President Martha Smith, Ph.D. in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater on the Arnold campus, will be Shree Iyengar, Ph.D., professor of chemistry.
“Love Letters” performances will benefit student scholarships and are part of the college’s 50th Anniversary celebration. The curtain for this play by A.R. Gurney rises at 8 p.m. for the Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10 shows and 2 p.m. for the Sunday, Sept. 11 matinee. “Love Letters” tells the story of two childhood friends who keep in touch in adulthood through letters that share their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats.
The Sept. 10 show features Vivian Gist Spencer, Ph.D., professor of English with Shad Ewart, assistant professor of business management. Sharing the stage on Sept. 11 is Douglas Brandt Byerly, chair of performing arts, and Jennifer Lara, professor of education.
