AACC Restructures Division, Promotes Grabowski to Dean

      John F. Grabowski, Ph.D., of Severna Park, a long-time employee at Anne Arundel Community College, has been promoted to dean of enrollment services effective Jan. 3, 2012.

      Grabowski joined AACC in 1983 as director of college services. He was promoted in 1989 to assistant dean of student activities and leadership development and served as interim dean of student services. Since 2001, he has worked as assistant dean for enrollment services managing the student services of records and registration, financial aid, admissions, testing, assessment and campus information. Prior to his AACC employment, Grabowski worked for the then Catonsville Community College as a coordinator and assistant coordinator of student activities.

      The promotion comes as part of a budget-neutral restructuring of the Division of Learning Support Services. In his new role, Grabowski will focus efforts on maximizing enrollment management.

      He earned a doctorate in education policy from University of Maryland Baltimore County, a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in group behavior and leadership with additional coursework in applied behaviorial science at JHU. Grabowski graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland College Park with a bachelor’s degree in recreation specializing in campus programming. He also earned an associate’s degree in recreation leadership from Catonsville Community College.
