Anne Arundel Community College and Yoga 4 Life of Riva have partnered to launch two professional Yoga Teacher Certification Preparation Programs at the AACC Arnold campus starting this summer.
AACC hosted an international conference of yoga teachers Feb. 29-March 2 to kick off the program. The Yoga Professional Teacher Conference at AACC attracted more than 95 yoga instructors from the United States, Canada, England and Germany for a week of practical sessions and lectures. The conference featured Rod Stryker, founder of Para Yoga and the author of “The Four Desires: Creating a Life of Purpose, Happiness, Prosperity, and Freedom.”
Anyone interested in professional yoga certification is invited to attend a free open house at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology Room 100 on the AACC Arnold campus to discuss the program, courses and the certification process.
Those successfully completing the courses, which are pending review by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, will receive CEUs (continuing education units) and may request a Certificate of Completion (dependent on completion of program requirements) from AACC as well as continuing education credit at the 200- and 500-level with Yoga Alliance International. Participants will receive a comprehensive, detailed study into the art and science of yoga, including meditation, philosophy, Ayurveda, pranayama, anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, posture labs and subtle energy.
