Fill Bags of Hope for Children in Need

March 27, 2012
Education

Help fill 100 “bags of hope” for children of women who seek shelter at the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County’s Arden House, a domestic violence shelter, to help make their stay at the shelter easier.

Anne Arundel Community College students enrolled in the credit course “Advertising and Sales Promotion” (BPA 126) have partnered with the college’s Professional and Support Staff Organization (PSSO) in the “Supplies for Lives” campaign, which is under way through Thursday, April 12. Faculty, staff, students and the community can adopt a bag and fill it with supplies for ages 5-10 or sponsor a bag with a $20 cash donation. Additional cash donations are also welcome; additional donations by check can be made out directly to the YWCA.

To adopt a bag, email AACC student Stephanie Kastle at slkastle@aacc.edu or pick up a bag with a supply list at the following Arnold campus locations: Careers Center Building Room 349, Florestano Building Room 306, Johnson Building Room 207, Resource Management Building Room 125, Student Services Center Room 120 or Temporary Library Building Room 106. Off-campus bag pickup sites are at the Glen Burnie Town Center Arundel Center North Room 213 and AACC at Arundel Mills Room 105C. Return filled bags to any of these locations by April 12.

All donated items should be new. Suggested items include colorful stickers, small boxes of crayons or colored pencils, small brushes or hair combs, small notebooks, small stuffed animals with no removable eyes or noses, small fleece blankets sized 50”x60” maximum, small games, card games, coloring or activity books and a book for elementary school age readers. For information, contact Stephanie Kastle at slkastle@aacc.edu or 410-777-1327.
