Michel Boyd, principal designer and owner of SmithBoyd Interiors of Atlanta will take his audience “Inside the Design Studio” from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater of the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on Anne Arundel Community College’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.
Boyd is being brought to campus by the AACC chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers as part of its “Inside the Design Studio” series. The audience will learn about the process an interior design uses to get his ideas and create the final product, making the talk relevant to architecture and interior design students, people working in the architecture and interior design industry, as well as people who are considering hiring an interior designer.
Boyd is a nationally renowned interior designer known for matching his designs to the way his customers live or work. Before he begins his design or renovation of a room, he will ask not only how it will be used but also glean a lot of details about the person using the room, including favorite pastimes, ways they interact with others and particular likes and dislikes.
“I build rooms like wardrobes...carefully and specific to the bodies that dwell there. The net result is a one of a kind home that is a true reflection of who you are and most importantly supports and enhances your lifestyle,” Boyd said.
The event is free for AACC students with college ID. The cost for all others is $5. For information, visit the events page.
