Lynn Silverman, teacher at MICA, created "Lightheaded"

Feb. 7, 2014

Three area photographers’ works are featured in “Paper and Light: Photographic Perspectives by Three Regional Educators,” now showing in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery at Anne Arundel Community College that runs through March 14.

The exhibit highlights the photographic art of Dean Kessman, associate professor of photography and director of Graduate Studies, Fine Arts at George Washington University; Jon-Phillip Sheridan, assistant professor and administrative director of Photography and Film at Virginia Commonwealth University; and Lynn Silverman, who teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Kessman has had solo and two-and three-person exhibitions around the country. Sheridan recently was recognized by Oxford American as an emerging “Superstar” southern artist. Silverman has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Australia and the United States and has published four books.

The public is invited to a free reception for the artists on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. The show is curated by Matthew Moore, assistant professor of visual arts at AACC, and Todd Forsgren, who has taught at AACC, the Maryland Institute College of Arts and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

The Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional hours on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. For the latest information, visit the photo gallery page.
