Business and Cybersecurity Are Focus of Free Symposium

April 18, 2014

With cyber breaches occurring every day, the demand for cyber workers is increasing and the cybersecurity industry will continue to grow. At the 4th Annual Cybersecurity and Entrepreneurship Symposium on April 25, learn about grant and scholarship opportunities for budding cyber entrepreneurs, small business connections available with the Department of Defense and case studies to help you avoid cyber attacks at your business.

The free symposium, “Anatomy of a Cyber Attack … Mind Your OWN Business,” features Ben Smith, a technology evangelist with the security leader RSA, who will provide details of the widely publicized, nation-state-sponsored cyber attack against his company. The symposium meets from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Florestano Building Room 101 at Anne Arundel Community College’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. The symposium originally was scheduled for Feb. 14, but was postponed because of a snowstorm that day.

Breakout sessions include:
Kick-starting your career in cybersecurity.
Cyber breaches and your business: case studies from experts.
Becoming a cybersecurity entrepreneur.
Grant and scholarship opportunities for the cyber entrepreneur.
Small business opportunities with the Department of Defense.

Although the symposium is free, registration is required at the symposium registration page, 410-777-2390 or email ESI. A complimentary continental breakfast and a networking lunch are included. The symposium is hosted by AACC’s Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies Department, the CyberCenter and the Computer Technologies Department.
